Growing up a "preacher's kid" in Portsmouth, Virginia, Derek began singing in his father's church at the age of three. Derek's vocal gifts blossomed as he matured and 30 years later, has shared the stage with renowned gospel artists such as Donnie McClurkin, James Hall, Fred Hammond, LaShun Pace Rhodes, Jonathan Nelson, Byron Cage, Deitrick Haddon, Marvin Sapp, and Earl Bynum. Derek has been deeply inspired by gospel greats Daryl Coley and Fred Hammond and he seeks to inspire others as these artists have inspired him. Derek's debut album, "A Higher Place", was released in 2002, revealed the influence of Derek's vocal mentors as well as the essence of his own style. The release of his sophomore project "Relationship" in 2011, allowed him to display more of his vocal talents, as well as, his love for praise and worship. July 8, 2014, he released his self-titled EP, which is a precursor to his fourth project “I Will Sing” to be released fall 2017. Derek currently resides in Portsmouth, Virginia with his wife, Tamara, and 3 beautiful children. He is a member of New Destiny Revival Worship Center, where he serves as an elder and praise and worship leader.

Todd Galberth, known for his exuberant and contagious musical style, has emerged on the Gospel scene as a passionate praise and worship leader who is changing the way this nation worships God. His latest single, “The Curse is Broken,” is set to evoke a spiritual revolution where people will experience God in a whole new way.
As a seasoned songwriter and actor, Galberth has graciously combined his multiple talents to help usher people into God’s presence. Understanding his strengths as an actor, Galberth also dove into the acting scene, leveraging his abilities in supporting roles to portray troubled, dramatic, and comedic characters in several playwrights across the country.
Galberth most recently served as the lead worship pastor at Potential Church, a large church with multiple campuses around the world. Prior to that, he was a praise and worship leader at World Overcomers Christian Church in Durham, North Carolina. Galberth also spearheads workshops to train other music leaders in the fundamentals of worship and evangelism. As he says: “God is looking for a worshiper, not a song. A worshiper does not need a song, but a song always needs a worshiper”.

The Stellar Gospel Music Award winning SOAR Radio, the first BDS-monitored online gospel radio station, has announced its 2nd Annual Soar Radio Gospel Music Awards. The program will take place Monday, April 9, 2018 at 7:00 pm at The Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main Street, Rockford, IL 61101. The show, which will be taped for television broadcast, will feature performances honoring Gospel music’s pioneers from all genres. The hosts for evening will be multi-award winning producer, Donald Lawrence, and celebrity personality Michelle Williams, of Destiny’s Child fame.
SOAR will hand out its Community Awards at a pre-show ceremony that starts at 6 pm with performances from artist such as Kevin Gray, Clifton Ross, Half Mile Home, and others. The main presentation follows with the dynamic Beverly Crawford receiving the Legend Award, sister act Virtue earning the Milestone Award, singer/producer J. Moss taking the Pioneer Award, and the multi-talented Vashawn Mitchell receiving the Trailblazer Award.
The evening will also boast performances and appearances by a who’s who in modern gospel music with Le’Andria Johnson, Jekalyn Carr, Alexis Spight, Zacardi Cortez, James Fortune, Todd Dulaney, Myron Butler, and Gene Moore, among others. SOAR Radio will also host an Empowerment Expo the day before on Sunday April 8th at The Tebala Shrine, 7910 Newburg Road, Rockford, IL 61108. It runs from 1:00 – 8:00 pm and features an Indie Artist Showcase judged by Gina Miller, General Manager of eOne’s Urban Inspiration department; Phil Thornton, General Manager of RCA Inspiration; Kelvin Leach, CEO of Lox Entertainment; and Michelle Williams.
